10 sounds much, but they dont get past q50 and are VERY hard to find, since you have to spent/waste your time in a cave and they are rare.
Your method is very infantile. Balance issues arent solved by "hmm lets try this", but by looking up how it is now and then decide how it should work better. I seem to be the only one caring about this. Why? Because no one cares to boosts psy because its just to hard already.
Of course this might not be the final version, but i doubt you would change it back if no one would continue nagging you about it, heck you didnt even solve my lawspeaker issue which i told you about. And i cant wait until you thought about it again and change it to something higher, because i have to eat, i have to dysbalance my stats, making it even harder to raise psy once the bulbs give more again.
Just change it to 8 or 9 and im happy, change it to 6 or 7 when there is a way to get highq cavebulbs to "balance" it again.

being unable to make palisades with walkways is as ridiculous as being able to shoot stuff from enclosed spaces.
it isn't about being ridiculous or not. you are punishing intuitive behavior, and that is always a huge detriment in a game.

loftar wrote:Animals should run away if that happens to them.

why? because that's what they do in reality? this game is so far removed from reality that that's hardly an argument, and if you want to go the "should" route, hunters should be able to hunt using ranged weapons, seeing that's what they did for nearly all of human history.
now in order to be an effective hunter you need to keep low unarmed so you can build up ini without damaging the animal enough to trigger flight, then just sos it to death. meh.

It is true that I have a tendency to forget things that don't come knocking me on the shoulder every once in a while, but please do remember that both Jorb and I are doing this as a hobby, and going around hard-hacking real-time data like village membership is, frankly, just boring. I just remembered that I had actually added a convenient way to force-resign lawspeakers, however, so you should be able to leave the village properly now.

And yes, I am ready to believe that the cavebulb nerf was overly harsh -- at least for now. I've reverted the code, and they will be un-nerfed starting from the next server restart. If you want it to happen faster, please find a way to crash it. ;)

I have to disagree with it being "intuitive" to be able to pound an entire quiver of arrows into an animal without it even reacting to it.

Why yes -- as stated in many places, we do intend to remake both archery, the entire combat system and, for that matter, the entire method of hunting.

Intentions are dime a dozen until then you keep screwing over the little guy every other update.

well, going that route they shouldn't require a quiver to drop dead, but it all comes down to:

Great, thanks! :)

To all the marksman guys: I havent actually tried this, but it should still be possible to trap the bear at the river if you wait for its animation, get out of the boat, build 2 or 3 signs around him and get in the boat before he reacts.

Well, again; I'm really curious as to what alternative you would present. Should I leave every exploitable behavior in and never fix them? You might argue that I should have left it in until I fix archery and/or hunting, but even with that, it is supposed to be harder to hunt down animals than just shooting at them from a boat.

To be honest, I am quite amazed to see people complain about this change. Did you not react to this behavior being completely unreasonable in the first place? Did you really expect it to remain like that?

I see I need to get around to making bears destroy things that block them. ;)

not any more "completely unreasonable" than having to kill hundreds of bears in order to get decent levels in any combat unrelated skill.
