How do i fish? i have the fishing skill and a fishing pole and a bone hook. i equip the fishing pole and have the bone hook in my inventory. but when i try to fish its says "i need a fully equipped fishing pole to fish" what am i doing wrong???

Should i be fishing directly under where the fish are jumping, or just around the area where the fish are jumping?

As far as I can tell it's just an indicator for if there's fish in that part of the river or not. If you see some jumping fish, just stand on the shore and start fishing.

I can fish in lake shallows & lake depth no problem, but now that I'm trying to catch river shallows fish, I'm having a hard time. I go to a river with fish but anytime I click on the shallow part, nothing happens. I can get to the deep areas no problem. Any suggestions?

As I understand things now, there is no distinction between deep and shallow lurking fish.

And I have no idea why you would be having trouble getting fish from the shallows, just make sure you're rod has everything it needs and click on the lighter colored water.
