You only help your opponents by giving them even more of an edge over you though, be it knightly or not.

Pressing Ctrl+X in Enders will allow you to see behind objects

Hiding the objects works even better and everything can be hidden in Ender's. You can't interact with things with X-Ray turned on. You can when things are hidden. Also, the hiding objects is selective, so you can choose what you do and don't hide. X-Ray just makes a cluttered mess out of a busy screen.
