If you have anything of value, trade for them.

If you lack a shovel, wine/beer/tobacco in plenty and 2 chests, trade for those.

I usually have an alt with a HF at the clay node, dig a bunch of clay, put in clay cauldron signs, port them back and forth from village idol, burn them at village and port them to the building site with another alt with a HF the building site.

If you don't have a village idol you could burn at the clay node, but it'll be a major pain.

A very helpful bug is to hold a shovel and start digging, while you're still digging take off the shovel and put on two traveller sacks, you will still dig at the same speed and stamina drain, but helps with the inventory space.

Sorry, a bunch of questions.

1. I THINK I read somewhere, that a cave can act as a mine for making midnight blue cheese? is there any truth to this? or does a cheese rack need to be placed on the tiles right by the minehole ladder to be considered a "Mine".

2. Besides milk, rennet, curding tub, cheese tray, and curd. What else affects the quality of cheese? any stats? cooking? perception?

3. Alloying crucible, Finery forge, Steel crucible. Does quality of the materials used to construct those three things affect the quality of the products produced by them? the wiki doesn't say anything, I do however know the quality of an ore smelter matters.

That's true. For any cheese that requires cave/mine.

2. Besides milk, rennet, curding tub, cheese tray, and curd. What else affects the quality of cheese? any stats? cooking? perception?

Quality of Alloying Crucible doesn't matter. Finery Forge and Steel Crucible softcaps products (Bloom, Bar of Steel).
QL of Bloom/Slag = (Finery Forge QL + Fuel QL)/2
QL of Bar of Steel = (Steel Crucible QL + Charcoal QL + Fuel QL)/3 (Never higher than iron QL)

Taking into account the recent questions, I have a few of my own.

What is the formula for the quality of the finery forge? (does it take metal into account or only bricks?)

What is the formula for the quality of the steel crucible? (does it take metal into account or only bricks?)

Thanks in advance... : ^)

(Bar of Cast Iron QL + Brick QL)/2 for both of them

Thanks in advance... : ^)

Ah ok, it was inside the quote so my eyes were skipping over it. Moving on!

How much charcoal in total is needed to fuel the steel crucible when making steel?

can't tell about charcoal for fueling but:

one fuel meter holds 4 Blocks - a full fuel meter burns 12 hours (RT) - cruicible needs to be lit 56 hours

12/4 =3 hours each block

56/3= 18,6666...

so 19 blocks needed (rounded up)

--------------

Coal acts as two branches worth of fuel, but i don't know for how many branches a block acts...
