Survival: this skill softcap quality of outcome loot from animals and wilderness. Loot from deer is hardcaped by 100, from bear - 200, from troll - 300 (max surv u ever need). So if u butcher bear with 150 surv u will get 150q skin and other, but u can get more from bear with higher surv.

Cooking: softcaps Q of your unbaked foods crafted via cooking recipes with formula - Qunbaked=sqrt(cooking*perception). So just look what q of ingridients u get and rise perc\cooking to prevent softcaping.

Sewing: softcaps your lether\clothing recipes - Qitem=sqrt(dextery*sewing). Same as cooking.

Smithing: Same as cooking and sewing - Qitem=sqrt(strength*smithing) for all metal crafts except jewelry - Qitem=sqrt(psyche*smithing) for jewelry.

Farming: Sortcaps crops q, guess q of crops is caped at 300 so just get as much as u can.

So for example to softcap crafts at 100q u will need 100stat and 100skill. And ur carpentry\farming\survival skills high enough to reach softcap point with your ingridients.

No, your examples with numbers are not correct.

The output quality when butchering is first softcapped by the sharp tool quality, then survival.

Output Quality = ((Initial Quality + Tool Q)/2 + Survival)/2

Lets use a bear for example and lets say your tool quality is 200 (which makes it so the quality is not softcapped since they are equal to eachother), and your survival is 150.

Output Q = (200 + 150)/2
Output Q = 175

The rest of my nitpicking:
Animal qualities are not hardcapped by the animal type/level, that shows the initial output quality
300 is not the highest survival ever needed, it's just the most reasonable amount you will ever need (survival still softcaps things like slings, which can go past quality 300 in theory).
Increasing your survival will not increase the amount you butcher from an animal.

Just put a wall up around the idol with or without a gate, up to you.

I wanted to build a wicker basket, so I got the ten branches I needed, but it said the construction site didn't have enough materials. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Where am I supposed to put the stuff so I can build things? Is it possible to move my hearth somewhere else? One of my characters started in a swamp, and he got covered in leeches.

Put the branchs into the signpost, you first right click the signpost and open the menu, now drag the branchs into the menu. (Or just shift left click the branchs with the menu opened)
And ye, it's possible to move your HF, just learn Hearth Magic and build a dream catcher, wait about 15 to 20 minutes (Forgot :( ), right click the dream catcher and click Harvest for dreams. Click Adventure, build Hearth Fire, place it and put materials in, build it. :D

Sounds like that random HF spawned near my home.

I spawned in an area surrounded by a forked river. I actually started another character to try to spawn in a better area. He's in an area with no nearby river, and someone's town thta I can't lawfully enter. I'm trying different games like this one to see if I like any. I thought about minecraft, but my driver isn't good enough. Plus the updated version isn't f2p.

Edit: I can't find a signpost in one of my areas. Is there a fast way to find one?

I can't figure out what your original question was for the life of me. I also can't understand your second question for the life of me.
Signposts are placed whenever you begin construction of an object. You load materials onto them and then build the object.
