Ok I have an annoying problem, I found an abandoned village, destroyed the gate and one of the corner posts, I did rebuilt the corner post from the wall section without a problem but.... WHY can't I built the damed gate.

There are a few potential reasons.
1) Are there exactly 2 tiles of space between the 2 cornerposts and are all tiles in front of and behind the gate paved?
2) Did you seal your cornerpost for some reason?

the old gate was there so there have to 2 tiles, yes everything is paved and no i didn't seal anything i can extent a wall section where normally I should have a built gate option

yep - gate building works with just having paved the 2 tiles between CPs

Sweet, I had forgotten about that. My apologies. Still glad since that was a really stupid requirement. In which case I have no idea why you cannot build a gate there.
