Although I believe beer isn't really necessary due to wine's presence, I will concede the point that beer is more efficient production wise (and let's not forget the wine press time as well). Hops is optionally left out as necessary but having it is also a good thing, although I do not favor bierwurst as there are other means of obtaining the other stats that are easily producable.

If there is such a worst crop, I would say flax as it has the same function as hemp but hemp has an additional benefit of hemp buds as well. What flax does have an advantage over hemp is that hemp's rather randomized sprite makes it slightly annoying to harvest in correct order.
