well i sometimes miss the atmosphere - but as i have too many time consuming tasks i'd better use Ender with NV and hide enabled most of the time - guess i'm past the point where adventure is the adventure ;)

Ender fixed it, when you zoom out now you can still have dark and not just the part of the game that fits under the "normal" sized game window. I like the atmosphere too, but no point giving myself a disadvantage by missing highlight, animal radius, and radar when I can have those and atmosphere!

edit: guess this is why they don't have access to metals, too dark to mine

Heres how I kill animals that like to run away (It's kind of an exploit, but oh well):
1. Spawn an alt and fill his inventory with sticks and set "Build fire" to a hotkey
2. Put him in the other slot on your boat
3. When you see an animal you want to kill, drop him off some distance from it
4. Aggro the animal with your hunter
5. Build signposts around the animal so when it tries to run away it can't
The animal won't aggro the alt and you can shoot away without worry. I find this to be the easiest way to kill animals as a new player.

Actually most people either use the twitching bug (most), finish animal in 1 shot (depends what game) or chase animal and fail (you're be surprised how many).

lol non as a noob hunter(ie early game when I can't finish animals in 1 shot): aggresive animals I use signs, boars I shoot til they run click the button to deagggro follow them shoot again(running back to my boat if they charge or deaggro them if they run again) rinse and repeat til dead, for bears they're so easy early on since they don't run I love them :D

everybody has their own methods, but trying to chase an animal and punch it never worked for me...
