Blocks are *always* the exact same quality as the tree. Stump blocks are *always* Q10.
Board Q is a function of log Q and saw Q (not sure what the function is) and uses carpentry.

at the moment, softcaped by bone Q.

Given high enough Quality clay & trees metal might become>bone. Carpentry is not the cap.

no, what i mean is: if carpentry < (sqrt(saw q * tree q)) then board q = (carpentry + sqrt(saw q * tree q))/2

Birch or fir, depends on which is native to your terrain.
