my walls are as small as possible, especially now that there are keyrings (remove keys)

most stuff doesnt need heavy duty walls, join a city if you want those

I don't see how keys in cornerposts are unrealistic at all. At least no less realistic than the nice wooden locks you have on your palisade's gates. :P
