No. Same problem. A player can walk along the green part on top of the cliff, that the palisade won't cover because you can't place anything on that particular tile.

What's to keep him from building a second (or third) palisade layer later on? Better to start at a decent size, so you can secure yourself more quickly, than trying to wall in too much at once. Once you've established yourself, gathering the materials for palisades is quite easy.

If you have the supplies for the cornerposts (which he clearly does), there is no reason he shouldn't just make the damn thing pretty large. Trust me, it's a hassle and that wall will just get in the way. All it takes is more blocks of wood and some more time.

@OP: unless there is some reason that specific area around the cliff is important, I would advise you just make a rectangle away from there, cliffs just add complications in the design.

Here's why that isn't secure: there are bugs in the game that can sometimes be exploited that allows players to magically teleport over cliffs. These bugs don't work on walls, though. Therefore, any cliff that is used for protection is inherently insecure.

If you're dead set on doing it that way, build your wall. If one of the gaps can be squeezed around, you can build another corner post there offset from the grid by holding down the shift key when placing it. If done right, it closes up any gap left. Just know that you'll need to build at least 3 starter posts for a palisade along the cliff. That means 3x the leather, bone glue, and another 100+ blocks of wood you wouldn't need if you just moved that thing over about 10-15 tiles east. Note: you'll see people building "hearth vaults" using cliffs as part of the defense sometimes. Hearth Vaults aren't meant to be living spaces, just hiding spaces. These people know what they're doing to prevent people abusing bugs to get inside the walls and it leaves no space for anything such as farmland or tree growing.

if you have someone kinned, and thier pclaim is on part of your vclaim, if you log out and come back(about an hour later I'm guessing) and it says that land is owned by someone when you're trying to walk there, does it mean that person was killed/died?

I know if you have someone kinned it will tell you who the land belongs to if you try tresspassing with no rights, but I actually had full rights(hf in cellar of the house) but had to get tresspassing and use criminal acts to get out...so I'm trying to figure out what happened.

Sounds to me like your buddy either died or unkinned you.
So a Flotsam walks into a bar.
The Bartender says "What are you here for?"
And the Flotsam says "Nothing, I'm just Curios."

I would suggest avoiding to build on cliffs in the first place. Will avoid bug raid attacks and it is much easier to expand and live in.
