Yeah, I'm not far enough for claiming land or building a palisade yet. :P

Reverse order, but yes. You can also put whatever you want to protect on an alt or put a container in your leanto. People will still be able to get that container out of it, but they need the theft skill to do so.

Yep, I got robbed while I was out getting some bones for my stake claim... FML.

I love this game a lot so far, everything except other players having the ability to take your things. *sigh* Anyway. How do you get a good supply of clay? I've tried three different mudflats and I haven't found a node. Is there some sort of trick?

Keep searching for a node. If the mudflats near you are dry, try searching the rivers and lakes near you for ball clay. While acre clay provides with a curio and Symbel item, you can use any clay you find for building kilns and making bricks.

I have a question about resources like rabbits or spindleroots; is it normal that I run around a lot of them and can't seem to find any? How hard is it to encounter stuff? I'm having trouble because I haven't even caught one rabbit yet (can't get bones right now).

Chances are you haven't actually run around very much. Move in a larger area and use a custom client, such as ender's, to hide objects and it will help you find rabbits and roots a lot easier.

Okay, I built my palisade and created a secondary character to hold the key. Question: Does the secondary char have to open the gate every time for the primary to go through it. That would mean the secondary opens the gate, logs off, the primary logs on goes through the gate, and the secondary has to close the gate after relogging on? It seems terribly tedious this way. I must be missing something.

Use a second account to do this. That way you can keep the character logged on for the moments it takes to get out the gate and then log back out. If you're computer is old and cantankerous like mine, it's not a pretty solution. (I can't run two instances if I have Ender's as one of them.)

The other solution is to set up a village and build a set of crossroads. You'll never need to use a key again.

Thanks MagicManICT, that's the kind of information I needed. I'll think of the village aspect too. Thanks again.
