The map now exists of 2 parts. 1 part being the surface and the 2nd being the underground where the caves and mines are.
It's pretty simple, when you create a minehole all you do is dig a hole and move to the 2nd part of the map.

Think about it:
We can build a minehole anywhere.
We can expand caves in every direction (unless we are to close to the entrance)

Why is this disapointing?,because this doesn't fix the problem we had in world 3,no it only makes it wors because now we need to claim the inside of our mines and put a support pole that costs 2 nuggets and 20 blocks every 5 Squares to not get killed.
Also mining now yields random amounts of ores and sometimes it wil cost 2 full stamina bars to get 5 ores.
Then when you mine a little to far you get 1 to 3 blocks on your head that overkills you for 100SHP and 50HHP.
What makes it even wors the only way to get rid of these blocks is to destroy them this takes 2-3 full stamina bars per block, come on!

No idea if what you say here is true, but it sounds pretty damn accurate to me. So thanks for this information.

In any case, knowing that destroying these rocks and mining some areas is based on your strength, then you don't think it will get easier as you get more strength then? Makes sense to me. It also gives a little more truth to the rumour of people building up strength on mining alts already.

Redundancy is redundant.

Maybe.. When you try and place a minehole in a house, you get the message "You cannot dig further."

It's a long stretch, but since this message exists, perhaps it is possible in some places to dig further. Maybe some rarer minerals are at lower levels. This is all speculation of course.

You can build houses in mines and caves, that was added with the last update in World 3. I would assume you can build cellars in said houses.

What would be cool is if you could build a full village in a mine in a mine in a cave. Be pretty annoying to break into, since you would have to build a new ram each time.

That's obvious, what I mean is... does it mean I'm close to ores or that it's just easier to mine there or something?

not sure, but i've seen spots that give stone only, and i've seen spots that give ore only, they were in the same cave but not close to each other. all the stones i've gotten have been q10 though, so looks like you found a vein of nice rock.
