A third thing to consider that I have not seen in this thread is your lure type.

better to pay attention to moon phase and bait type than time of day...

its been mentioned alot, most recently in the post right before yours.

I've been following the wiki to fish some plaice, and honestly I can't seem to fish 'em out. XD

I've been fishing in the correct moon phases, and (hopefully) in the correct areas with the correct baits. I keep getting either roach, eel, perch, and/or brill.. and it's annoying me because plaice gives PERC early on.

Anyways, any tips on fishing these little rascals? Much appreciated.

Give up unfortunately. Magic man might know how to fish them, but plaice are tied for rarest fish with eel and are an incredible pain in the ass to get. I seem to remember finding them in lake shallow during new moon? Don't quote me.

Early perception gain depends on carrots. Plant em and farm em and you'll have all the per you want.

Edit: If you get an idol up you can also trade for spectacles.

I was getting a good batch of plaice from lake shallows, don't remember exactly what moon phase but I'm thinking it was one of the gibbous phases, and it was with leeches.

The wiki is spot on for Plaice and I never have issues getting them. I get them on pretty much any fresh bait in lake shallows on about any moon phase.I will say that there are times when they are near 100% of a catch and times when I might get 1:4 or 1:5. (Probably because I usually have a variety of fresh bait in the boat and don't keep close track to what I'm using on any one cast.) Just today I got less than half place with the rest being pike and an occasional roach. I've not done an intensive time study like on the Moon Phase page, though, to verify any accuracy or changes. (To note, I have a harder time getting both eel and sturgeon, both of which are strictly tied to moon phases and/or time of day from what I can tell.)

And Eel, oh the eel! I just use Leeches on this one particular time, I recall recording it on the discussion. I have yet to find a different time and different bait to get eel, but for now bloated leeches on a waxing gibbous.
