most containers are ok outside, the big no is cupboards. even with using cupboards outside if they're on paved ground they are far less likely to explode(as with all things on paved ground).

The big thing with cupboards outside is that they only have 1 hp and explode on a single decay hit. They store fine in a cart, though you can't have anything in them when storing them. I use them for seed sorting until I get large chests (which I still store in carts so they aren't laying around to be seen).

Yes, I've seen crates decay outside, large containers, no. Crates are meant to be temporary until you get enough leather and glue/rope to make bigger containers.

how exactly beeswax are accumulated, i seem to get a lot of honey but no wax :s

it takes time, the more crops you grow around the hive the more wax you get...beets and carrots have quick growing times and are often recomended for this, but it all depends on how often you farm. you can also get wax from candleberry, a somewhat common foragable item found in swamps if you have enough exploration and perception.

Since the changes with mining (Jan '11), nobody has been able to quite get the range of prospecting. It used to be pretty exact based on quality, but now it seems to be a bit more random. There's a really good guide to using prospecting on the wiki: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Prospecting

What about wax quality? I got ql29 wax at one point but since then the quality only went down, even though the quality of the crops growing around the beehive is only going up and I build new hives with higher ql materials every now and then. Does wax have to accumulate over time to reach higher quality levels?

Wax is literally completely fucking random. It seems that immediately after building new hives it will produce the highest quality wax, and then just randomly bounce around and decrease as time goes on. Way too many variables in play to try to figure out anything different.

Decay hits are entirely random. Could be a week. Could be a 5 months.
