i'd still say no to building houses just to shelter from bears or boars. Only if theres a place you go to all the time, you could. Otherwise its just a waste of materials. Also, you wont find many beasties on mudflats in the first place

At lower levels what I've seen best is to fish. I got a good amount of LP every time I go fishing (only drawback is that due to my poor crafting skills my hook tends to break a lot)

dig for worms. Not only do you get some lp, but with bait (worms, leeches, intestines and some others) fishing is much faster plus your stuff dont break
