I am just speculating, I don't know anything about it but I do know bottle necks like disk IO can be worked around with code.

My friend uses to throw not working stuff out of the window then going to buy it new - always worked for him... :P

Couldnt they just remove the IO ?

I mean if you add something and it doesnt work (in this case does the opposite of what you
want it to do) couldnt you just take a step back and remove the hardware/software/IO super
thingymajig ?
