But to set out my problem, I have q14 Pot, q34 Soil, q13 Water, q10 Table, q10 Table. I plug all this in and get around 20 or so, but everything I'm harvesting on the tree itself
is only q8. Really needing help with this as its bugging the crap out of me! My only other option to think of whats wrong is that my Survival level isn't high enough..

Anyone understand this problem yet? :o

Tree is fully grown, so do I need a higher Survival..?

Survival doesn't affect the quality of items taken off a tree (or the quality of blocks from said tree). Tested with a 1 survival farming alt.

edit: sure you're doing the math right? I'm coming up with 13. Also, your farming skill is softcapping this.

13 + 34 + 14 + 10 + 4 * 10 = 111 / 8 = 13.875 or 13 when truncated (which is what computers do to integer math). You could get 8 with a skill in the range of 1-3. I'm going to guess it's 1 and the RNG gave you a q 15-16 tree.

can comfirm this - q34 mulberry leaf from someone with 1 surv/farming

does anyone actually know if taking stuff off the tree can lower the quality? I took a branch or two off a 5th stage tree and 6th stage its q lowered by 1.

No, it doesn't. I start harvesting branches as soon as I can. For some reason I like to go through the tedium of cone cows while I'm online. (Best LP/hour of any curio other than pearls, and who doesn't have 1 extra attention?) Could be a rounding error as I've seen this myself on a rare occasion.

Seen it to, although I was not sure if it was not a logging error on my part. (not sure if I have the relative data still around (W6 case))

I only keep a few trees around at a time on my hermitage, so it's easy to keep track of which is which. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a fractional that the server keeps track of that we never see (ie tree is stored as q1000 or 10000 instead of 10). Could explain a lot of the rounding errors we see around the game.

I have two questions about trees terraforming terrain.

1. Do trees convert tiles "intelligently?" In other words, are they prevented from "converting" forest tiles to forest, a redundant action?
2. How far away will trees convert tiles?
