I want to build a palisade just on top and bottom to seal the cube, since people can't climb hills, but I have seen villages surrounding themselves completely, along the hillside. Why is that? Because it actually protects more or because it costs less?

as I understand cliff jumping is possible at corners only. My neighbor told me to prevent cliff jumping even if it is possible one should build a fence cornerposts or leave some liftable items in the corner so it and nearest tiles would be occupied.
I dont know if it is true or not
Also he showed me very nice cheap way to prevent grifers entering to a village territory through a mine hole: It is just needed to be surrounded by a fence with one tile remained open and something liftable should be on that tile. So when you try to climb the stairs from the mine it will say that territory is occupied cuz there are no empty tiles around a mine hole
