Well, I've been living near a mountain this world. It's proven to be.... interesting. If you have no tolerance for other people's BS, definitely avoid it. What you said is basically the same advice you'd give anyone anywhere. Since frog's crowns and glimmermoss are such major curios (and I forget what else on a mountain), they've become a bit of a hotspot.
Another thing to consider: SOMEONE is going to likely try and claim the mountain (assuming you don't do it yourself). Plan on buying Vandalism and possibly Trespassing so that you can continue foraging there.
