How do I use a bow?

I'm holding a bow.
I'm wearing a quiver.
I have arrows in the quiver.

I click on "Shoot."
I click on an auroch.

Nothing happens. I hear an "aiming bar" is supposed to appear, but I don't see anything changing anywhere on the screen.

How does the carpentry work exactly? Is it worth rising? (I'm a builder)

Carpentry also refers to the non-incrementable skill, Carpentry. http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Carpentry

Increases the softcap a character has on the quality of many wooden items, mainly boards.
You cannot craft items of a higher quality rating using carpentry recipes higher than your skill value.

So I just started the game (totally new, never even seen it before to be honest), and just about an hour of playing around, following the guide on what to do, how to earn Learning Points and all the good stuff (thanks to the people creating the guides, helped me alot), it seemed to me like I'm the only person in the whole game.

At the time I joined, it said there are 322 hearthlings playing, of which I saw ... None. Nor have I heard of one, on the chat (which somehow seems to not work?). Tried typing a message in the "Area chat" and never got a response.

Is everyone in the same world? How big is the world? How can I meet someone?

Those are just the few questions I'd like to find an answer to for now.

Hope you don't mind if I hit the wrong section with this thread, I am just a newcomer in here.

You might not want to be so gung ho about finding people though... Not everyone is friendly.

I've read that the "Hearth secret" is a code which allows a player to basically spawn at my Hearth Fire, or what it was called (I'd call it campfire).

So that's the only way for players to communicate, or team up?

The world seems too large for me to just go wander off and look for people (I love to socialise with others, and work together.) so I guess I'll just need to find an alternative of finding people, or getting someone to play with me and guide me through the game.

If anyone is interested in playing with a total newbie (that barely read the guides only), and show him around, I'd be glad.

Hearthsecrets are also used to make kins (friends) - you can textchat with your kins ingame (other communication is done via Skype or voice chats)

I've stumbled across a problem ... How do I actually put a bed under a Leanto?

Tried carrying it and dropping, not working. Same for container, how do I put it under the leanto?
