when prospecting inside of a cave it is actually picking a up a node that is one level below your current level.

So of course if you're outside of a cave and you prospect you would have to build a minehole to get down to the node, it's the same if inside a cave.

Will road signs dissapear if I drop them on the ground? If not, can they be destroyed?

Also can crossroads be destroyed by a foreigner with criminal acts on? If so, where should I place the exit crossroad?

Road signs will disappear after a while like any other dropped item.
To destroy it in an instant, drop it in a river. If you have no access to rivers make a couple of wicker baskets, put them at the wall of your house, put your sign in one of them, destroy the basket and hope the sign lands in black area. If it doesn't, repeat.

They can currently be destroyed by anyone with a boar, bear or deer. place the crossroads outside your wall.

There's a distance formula with range based on quality. I don't recall if it has been posted off-hand. You'll definitely get a range of a minimap or more by the time you get to q40.

edit: double checked your pic, and it's probably no more than another screen to the NW. Yeah, it's going to be a pain to get too, but instead of digging directly toward the arrow, try to do some triangulation.

It could be it's pointing at two different nodes, too. Never can tell until you get down there or you can find a spot where it tells you what's underneath you.

Does a bear ( or any other animal) attack me while I'm on an oxcart and pass by? Can it reach and hit me? Can I outrun him? XD
