So I'm new...And I have some questions but one is more annoying than the rest. What do I do with those piles of leaves everywhere. when I click them it doesn't give me any options, but they look like they could be harvested.

Don't know what you mean by piles of leaves, but you need to buy foraging to be able to right click pick any forageables you may find

Build the lean-to, Adventure -> Lift the spruce bed, and place it into the lean-to.

You can but the benefits are small. One of the primary benefits of sleeping in a bed in a lean-to is that other items stored in the lean-to are considered yours. This allows you to make a basket and store it in the lean-to and reduce the risk of theft. To steal from you someone has to have the theft skill and really just feel like dicking over a newbie.

In addition to this, sleeping in any bed reduces travel weariness which will be helpful when you can teleport.

the current visible benefit of sleeping in bed is an instant logging out.
when you simply log out, your char stays in the world for a few seconds without being able to monitor.
sometimes, if you arent careful enough, some aggressive animals or players in range can aggro your char while you are logging out. (your char stays in world when in combat mode.)

This, but unfortunately don't try to go to sleep when you already are in combat mode. It won't work and you might die.

Is it possible to build a minehole in level 1 (cave) then build a village idol in level 2 and after that destroying the minehole leaving a secure vault beneath it? Nobody will know you build a minehole there so it should be safe in my eyes. Also, does anyone know what happens if you get tracked using scents. Im really not familiar with that so my guess is that it will point your hf above the level you currently are but can someone confirm this? Another question i have is whether its possible to build chicken coops and other buildings on mined surface. Can anyone tell me please what the mined surface tile equals to (something like paved stone with a few restrictions)?

It is possible to make that vault.
When you're tracked it shows above layer, same tile.
I'm pretty sure you have to pave in a minehole, then build something.
