Any is enough. More is better. Having a small amount (under 20) can make it frustratingly slow to kill anything.

Yes. The more marksmanship, the faster shooting, provided you have infinite quality sling.
If you have a Q3 sling, the most marksmanship you will get benefit from is 6. Double your sling's quality, and that's how much MMS you should ideally have.
Better sling and MMS = better, obviously. Get a bear and make him into a sling, make some curios and get more MMS and then you can kill any animal easily.
It only takes a while to kill a bear before you have good sling.

Just to add to what Nooby has said - Hasse has a good guide on how to kill animals with low stats via combat, not only is this useful in killing the animals it also helps with understanding some of the different moves and how they work.
It saved my life last week when I got trapped by a bear on one tile of water, away from him, with only an axe, it was a very close thing mind but, I survived and came out of it with a better understanding of how combat works.
