Is it true that if you dont harvest plants for a long time its quality will decrease?

Im not sure about claimed land but on unclaimed yes they will decrease.

And how long it takes?

I've never timed it only seen the effects on places that lost their claims or village authority.

Couple questions, but before I begin, just want to say thanks for the help guys (and gals).

Anyway, when im boat hunting, sometimes the animals glitch out and advance into the water a bit, and rubberband back to shore. My question is, can the animals actually hit you when they do that?

Second question regards safety. I am a hermit with a good little settlement, with a palisade around it. (working on the steel for the brick wall as we speak.) I have gotten lucky and come across some pearls (in the posession of a logged off alt), so I put up a village claim in order to be able to trade if I want to. Recently I noticed a new rune stone near my front door, and it just says "Greetings, gl hf." Now I ram check around my walls very often, and so far nothing. There are no other villages around me, and I never see anyone when im foraging, think this is something I should worry about?

Just a lag issue, the server sends you the path the animal takes and clients have them move it without carrying about water/walls/anything getting in the way. It rubberbands back on the next server message because that's where it actually is. No they can't hit you during that time, because as far as the server is concerned, it never actually left the shoreline.

For your second question, get that bwall up fast, ram check often, and you'll be as safe as any of us. Sounds friendly enough in any case.

You should have seen what it used to do in the laggier days. A bear would appear to run right over yout boat and sometimes straight over the river. That gets you to semi shit your pants the first couple of times it happens to you.

Alright, I always get freaked out when the animals do that. Back when I was an uber nub I was boat hunting a boar, and I was too close to the shore, fucker destroyed my boat, and I drowned. That was traumatic. Thanks for the help.

P.S. My mini-map seems to be stuck on simplified mode, I tried restarting client, and computer but still simplified, anyone know why this is happening?

I'm using ender's client and for some reason my minimap now looks extremely simplified (it only shows paved terrain and a green background), how do I get it back to normal?
