lol amanda, thats not a simple question, im afraid. youd have to ask loftar. (you have checked in and out from house, right?)

btw, i had butchered a calf before the roll-back, i logged in to see him alive walking around.

I thought it probably wasn't, lol, wondered if anyone else had experienced it though. Yes, I've tried numerous times and they have just vanished, all except the one I picked which is still in an lc at home. It's strange isn't it.

And yeah, you'd think the dead person would still be alive like your calf but they aren't, lol. In this instance it's actually a good thing as the dead person was a thief and a murderer and doesn't deserve any kind of justice, so I won't ask Loftar, just in case he puts them back, if that's even possible.

It all depends on the last save. Grids and characters aren't saved simultaneously. Grids are saved individually one after another periodically throughout the day, the exact timing is something I don't know. Characters are saved upon log out. Buildings are instanced and are not connected to the outside grid at all. They open, close, and save with a mind of their own. =)

If someone was murdered and forced to log out, the game has now saved that data and their character is gone. However the grid hasn't necessarily saved yet and so any changes on it, including the spawning on scents, can be lost if the data isn't saved before a server crash/shutdown.

In other words, by sheer happenstance you were in a spot that lost more progress than other areas and that's why the scents are gone. Same with Tonky's calf. Its data wasn't saved yet when the rollback occurred and so when the server came back up, it was as if the calf had never been butchered. Purely chance.

The odds of JLo restoring their character are effectively 0.

Congratulations on the perfect murder. You should destroy the last of the evidence.
