How far can a ram move before breaking?

Is this affected by paving?

It's affected by paving, quality a bit (our test showed that anyways, haven't tried again to confirm) and a small randomness factor it seems. 20 tiles is always a safe bet though, could move 25, furthest i've ever seen is 28.

It left the loaded region and was despawned. This is very normal. The best way to prevent this is to kill the bear in one large fell swoop after you've injured it significantly rather than trying to grind it down one punch at a time. A Bronze Sword or Soldier's Sword are good for this. When using range, try to trap the animal first to prevent it from fleeing.

Failing lacking the ability to kill the bear in one fell swoop, hit the surrounding grids before killing it so it forces the server to load them. Try backing off on your dps a bit if you're having a problem with them running off too oftn, too. They have a run threshold beyond so much damage per time. That might mean using a lower quality sling or timing your shots so you don't exceed the threshold.

Hit it when it looks like it twitches too. Shouldn't run that way.

and if you deliberately miss it to initiate combat then you can avoid it from running from you before there is a twitch to time it against. Twitching is the way to go with ranged.
