So im trying to build my first log cabin, I have the stone down and everything, but when I place the cabin to build it, nothing happens. my character stops and nothing happens. what am I doing wrong?

Check the messages tab in chat to see if there were any status messages (these are the red event messages that you can often miss near the bottom left). Possible you might get a "you cannot build that here" message which means something with the pavement is too small or the building's hitbox goes over it. For a cabin you really need a 5x5 square paved and place the cabin in the 3x3 center of the paved slab (7x7 for the 5x5 timber house, etc.)

They take a bit of time to produce them, I think it's 20 minutes per dream but I may be mistaken. Once it has at least one produced you can right click it and gather the dream. Randomly, some dream catchers won't let you gather from them even if they have dreams stored unless you pick them up and move them.
