You need to be wearing the hat for it to give bonuses
Also, if you're barbarian then the barb debuffs on int and csm will be there too.

Smelting silver ore
Is it just my experience, that silver ore with full industry do not give 20 % od silver nuggets? It seems to me, that there is only 5-10% probability of becoming silver ore to the nugget? Is there some other equation for silver ore? Or am I extremely unlucky? (I smelted like 1000 ore already). I tried to mine with different chars with full industry and everytime the same result was observed.

Any use for junk bones other than bone glue for palisades and Seer's bones, or should I just toss them to save me cupboard space now that I have plenty of q100+?

If you're a raider you can use them to build rams, or sell them to some lazy raiders.

Gold and silver give lower sucess rate than other metals.
I heard a rumour that indistry/nature slider didn't matter for them, but I've not been brave enough to try it.
