Thanks, Amanda. It seems it can't be built right next to anything else.

Actually, further to that - I removed a male lamb recently from the mother and was going to slaughter it, now having far too many sheep - just after I let it go outside the pen my internet went down, it was off for the rest of the day, I got busy doing other things and I forgot about it. The next day I was away and was out of game for about a week.
When I came back the baby had grown up and was still wandering around the pens, I slaughtered it but I did wonder if it had managed to impregnate the females and then yesterday I logged in and sure enough I now have two more pesky lambs!

So, I can confirm that they do mate through roundpole fences at least, and that they can still get milk from the mother through the fence, otherwise the lamb would have died - wouldn't it?

thank you for the confirmation, but one thing, i know milk/feeding is different. calves dont have to actually even "touch" their mothers to drink milk from, just like how food troughs work within the radius, but they do "engage" for mating.

p.s.
i separate my animals with cellar stones and other obstacles and so do my friends, and we all manage "birth control" when we need it ;)

That's a good idea, I never know what to do with all those cellar stones either, I tend to take them out with me in the boat and then dump them far away, lol, confirmed fly-tipper -

If you teleport while carrying anything over your head, you'll still be carrying it over your head after the jump.
