I'm about to turn on criminal acts for the first time (to break some abandoned claims in my area). I intend to use a new character, with his hearthfire situated in a remote location, so this won't be tracked back to the village. Can I confirm that scents can't be tracked to a character's village, and only to the character's hearthfire. Also, can I check that it will require vandalism, need STR:81+ with a pickaxe, and will only leave unsummonable trespassing scents. /paranoia

For your first tools, absolutely use cast iron and not wrought. Also, for some tools such as the shovel & scythe (for harvesting crops), quality has zero bearing on the tool's performance anyway.

Nope scents never lead to "villages" which is actually a shortcoming of the whole scents system since any village large or small can create a character just to steal and vandalize and put that characters HF in a vault somewhere and the village that actually did it can claim innocence/ignorance. The only other way it can lead to your village would be if you stole an item and kept it in your village that item can be tracked for a while.

You'll need trespassing and vandalism, but you'll only leave trespassing scents that will stay for 8 real time hours. Make sure you bring plenty of water when you attempt to break the claim with those stats.

Definitely can. It's very, very easy. Just use charge 2-3 times so the fox can't get advantage (not sure what the minimum is) then float like a butterfly until you have 5 advantage (while switching from oak stance, bloodlust and dodge to regenerate your attack bar and defense bar (red and blue)) and then it's simple, just switch from jump and punch until it's down. There's other ways but this is the safest, the simplest.

Once you have full advantage switch to dash, and use opp knocks four times, then knock his teeth out is safer than jump punch

Just killed my first one. I used dash to get to 6ip, but you can get to 10 to use knock his teeth out once. Make sure to engage with call down the thunder to get one IP at the start. When you get the IP you desire, build advantage through float like a butterfly or sidestep (sidestep will require gaining more IP). Once you have IP and 5 advantage, punch it, then use flex to get attack faster and punch again etc... You can finish him off with knock his teeth out when you know you can kill it with that attack.

I know there is a lot of manners to do it, but I tried different stuff and it was the easiest for me.

I guess this fits here... So joining a village and what not, Is there a right time to do it? Like, I know you can continue to be a hermit if that's what you want but, should you join one after a while? Personally I want to due to me wanting to contribute something other than smiley face tile designs near my house as I am currently. If this doesn't classify as a simple question more than willing to make a topic in D&T

That's a matter of opinion. There is, obviously, no right answer for everyone. If you absolutely love being a hermit, you never have to join a village. If the crushing loneliness of small groups or solo play is getting to you, then join a village asap. Availability is also an issue. No village is constantly recruiting and some villagers are better fits for your style of play than others. It's no good for a peaceful farmer to join up with a merry old band of raiders after all. If a village you want to join opens up recruitment, it may be good to secure a spot even if the timing isn't ideal for you.

In my opinion it's good to learn the basics either on your own or with a friend or two. After a couple of weeks of this it's good to join a village if you're not entirely content with the quiet life. This lets you experience both sides of the fence and affords you protection once your character starts having some substantial investment in it.

That response I like, Makes sense actually when I think about it. Thanks
