make sure you're at 260% leanring before you study it, and even better, get the highest qual Tea you can get, wait until the buff hits 100% then log off with your learning % at 360+ whatever the tea buffs. The buff stays and is counted towards curios that finish while you are logged off.....

What's so hard about it? Maybe someone hasn't worded it right. Maybe you're making false assumptions or a bad inference.

Find curiosities.
Place curiosities in your mentory.
???
Redo.

Look at the first post of this thread. There's a list of them.

How do you identify them? They're the only things that can be put into the inventory slots in the study section of your character sheet. Some are the familiar--bear teeth, bloated boletes--others are new--ladybugs, dragonflies. Most need to be crafted, others can be foraged.

I looked at the wiki and apparently you can only find Thorny Thistle with 96 perc*explor in mud areas but I found one with 20 perc*explor in a grass/jungle/whatever area..

It wasn't shaped like a thorny thistle at all either..

Did I find a Thorny Thistle someone dropped randomly or something?

Sure it wasn't a Stinging Nettle? As a note, there are only 4 general terrain types (each with subtypes): mudflat, forest, grasslands, and swamps, so "whatever" doesn't really give much of a clue as to where you were. Thus, No, you didn't find a Thorny Thistle unless someone dropped one there very recently.
