To sum it up:

Steps:
1. put eggs on the table (htable q matters, it will softcap the quality)
2. after 8 hours of eggs on the table, they will turn into worms, you have 8 hours time to put them in cupboards with mulberry leaves (again, q of leaves will i think hardcap the q of cocoons). each worm needs 4 leaves, so best to put 12 worms with 48 leaves in one cupboard.
3. after 16 hours of worms being in cub, they turn into cocoons. I believe they stay cocoons for about 16 hours. I suggest you cook the lowest ones from which you want to do silk, and leave highest quality ones to develop into moths in 16 hours. (look number 5 to proceed)
4. Cook lowest q cocoons in cauldron (q doesn't matter, water q doesn't matter either), make sure you got good softcap of farming, dex, sewing. you will get out silk filaments, from which you then make silk threads on spinning wheel (q matters and raises q of fillaments). from silk threads you need loom to make silk cloths (q matters ofcourse)
5. if you look at number 3 again, silk cocoons turn into silk moths in 16 hours. then you need to sort silk moth in pairs - female+male. best to have 6 males and 6 females in one cupboard since each pair can give up to 10 silk eggs. they need 8 hours for that.
6. after moths turn into eggs, you can start all over

1. from personal experience pc claim dont decay over pc (well slows down anyway).

Steel is wrought q softcapped by the cube root of the product of the coal, crucible and fuel.

So no, it won't raise the q.
