If a little nub with a q-10 stone axe tries mining and gets the message, "This stone is slightly too hard for you to mine" roughly what and how much does the nub need to increase in order to mine that spot? Would moving strength up 10 points do the trick? 20 points? How about if they get a q20 axe?

That means you're 20-30 mining ability away from being able to mine there. Mining ability = sqrt(Strength*Tool Quality)

You can improve the quality of your tool, increase your strength, or do a bit of both. It'll probably be easiest to improve both concurrently. =)

Will sliding the thing to civilization reduce the FEP bar? Or is the belief bonus added independently to the base value and won't count?

In this case with strength being your highest stat yes it will change it. I am not sure if it will do so if you already started progression but it should correct for the next cycle.

No, your FEP bar is relative to your highest base attribute, and barbarism/civilization do not affect the base attribute.

No I was wrong. I forgot FEPs are base attribute calculations. I was thinking about the barbarism str bonus affecting str level would be lower. Ninijutsu is correct. Sorry for the error.
