No they don't, they just penetrate armor, no matter how much armor class you have you will get damaged

That's what he meant. they have 30% pen.
so if the bear attacks for 800 and you have 1000 ac, you will get hit for 240. ofcourse if you have 600ac then you will get hit for 380.

how do I find clay nodes easily?

Boat around and dig about every minimap distance on the shallow waters/mudflats. If you get 2 clay pieces in a row, it's a node.

If you find 2 pieces, dig around the area trying to find which direction is higher quality. Repeat until you hit the peak, it should be lower on every side. The clay will be capped by your survival though.

No good tricks about finding them.

how do I find clay nodes easily?

There's no easy way. Generally you dig an applicable spot every 20 or so tiles to see what it yields. Areas that give quality 10 clay probably aren't nodes or aren't worthwhile nodes.

What is the function of "describe to..." of the kin's box (i use Ender's client)?

If someone hasn't met someone yet but you've memorized or kinned that person already, then you can use 'describe to' to allow them to memorize them too. It's useful for identifying thieves and murderers you've seen, claim owners you've passed, trade partners you don't want killed, etc..

at this stage in the world i'd say just look for claims on the river that seem to serve no other apparent purpose
