do you get a special message when the person you are tracking is dead, or does it just say "the perpetrator has no hearth fire / is not online"? and are the footprints/scents still visible when he is dead?

If the perp has no HF try to force summon him, it'll say "The perpetrator is dead". No, the footprints don't disappear

yeah, but I got only the trespassing footprints and I dont know if they belong to a certain griefer or to a former (dead) villager

It's harder to tell with the trespassing scents. But they only last 8 hours or so so if ur villager died before that then it wasn't him. Also, if it says the perp is logged off it means he's still alive.

There must be some other ruling factors into finding these damned flotsams.
Idk what though.
My P*E is 1360 and I found them before no problem.
Can't seem to find em now.
After an area has been picked of them does it take a while for the to respawn or something?

They kinda spawn randomly, as any other foragable stuff. There's just a small chance.

Flotsam spawning is subject to a couple of interesting issues. First off, they're very very very easy to see. Anyone who's been around 1-2 weeks in game can see and grab them. Further, they spawn in rivers (the most highly travelled area in the game) AND they are very unlikely to spawn.

What you get is a curio that you tend to find based on pure chance (of getting the spawn, of not having someone else nab it, and of there not being a lot of people around to keep refresh rates higher). Generally speaking, unpopulated areas of the world are good for this, but with server population climbing the density of players in your area has probably gone up somewhat.

Is crop quality cap'd by the soil quality of the area?
