I am unable to build a mine support
I have discovered all items, I have mining skill and it shows up in build menu, but when I try to build it, my guy walks up to where I chose and stops.
He doesn't place down any sign. Is this due to it being in the area around a mine holes ladder?

As mentioned above a support needs to be on a mined out tile. It can also be placed on a paved tile.

I shall clarify that without risk of cave-in, you can mine tiles adjanent to the caveterrain that spawned along the ladder. only one tile deep and not the diagonals at the corners

There is still some % of risk taken even at first tile mining if you are doing it at certain angle or whatnot. So still pay attention to that.

How likely is it to get 10 ore from one tile?
The wiki states the average is 3.3
That's a pretty large deviation from the norm.

Nope. Quality of well nodes is based on the water quality node and nothing else.

ctrl + R

Custom clients may have individual means to set specific hotkeys but I'm not familiar with them.
