Saw you're questions got answered, so I won't answer again. ;)

What part is confusing? I've looked it over many times and I am not completely happy with it, but I can't think of any other way to write it up to make it easier to read as well as convey the necessary information. I forget who wrote up the current article as it's been a while since it was posted. (Suppose I should make another thread on this.)

Looking over the mining topic I noticed it lacks in game pictures, and a specific discussion of how supports work and them vs zig zag mining for relative dangers of different levels.

Q: I cant seem to find any formulas on making cheese. I know about changing the tray placement to get different cheeses but it is the Q I want to work out. What raises it? What soft caps it and what hard caps it?

Exactly half.

Cheese works on the exact same formulas as leather, kilns, smelters, etc. There are no hard-caps, only the limits of the quality of tools you build. Thus, it's something along the lines of: (Curd Q * 2 + Q Tray) / 3. Curd quality is something like (Milk Q * 2 + Rennet Q + Tub Q) / 4.

There's a blurb on it on the quality page: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Quality
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

if its a palisade with bare hands, around 350 str, and lots of barrels of water

For a Hearthfire: 36 Barehanded, 25 with a stoneaxe, 16 with a pickaxe, 9 with a sledgehammer
For a Palisade: 676 Barehanded, 625 with a stoneaxe, 576 with a pickaxe, 529 with a sledgehammer

did palisade soak get increased? i thought it was 484 with sledge etc?

once it's in curds you can't get the q any higher, trays softcap it. so invest most of your effort in the curding tub q (wood q), rennet q (vinegar q (grape q, press q (wood q), barrel q (wood q)), intestine q (doesn't seem to be much difference between deer guts and bear guts tbh, as long as your deer guts are about q100), cauldron q, water q), milk q

There was an update mid-W5 which made it so trays only softcap cheese quality (as opposed to before when they could raise it as well). Thanks for bringing that mistake to my attention and I'll update the wiki. Lastly, I think the formula is a standard softcap of (CurdQ+TrayQ)/2, however I have no way of being able to verify that currently.

You're correct it's only 484 with sledge, Teck must've calculated as if sledge added 3 damage mistakenly.

Pretty sure that update was implemented start of W5. Trays and Racks never increased quality in any of my cheese making back then. Just the curdling tub.
