There probably more semi fixed. As in: there seems to be a minimum and maximum phase time (per phase [1..5]).

Its (-5..+2), Xcom kinda nailed that one to the wall in his Tree Experiment.

Any old formula (spreedsheet) users should adjust that part, in not done already.

Anyone knows if it makes a difference to a Q-node (water) when taking/sampling water with a Bucket (10L) or a Kuksa (0.3L) ?

How do I successfully set up a village with a bunch of other new players without having a palibasher come in and ruin the fun?

The short answer is build a brick wall.

Even if you dont build a BW there is a really small chance someone can take your village claim. As long as the player who is going to be lawspeaker is there when the 24hr runs out and creates the village there isn't much a palibasher can do that I'm aware of.

A village idol really makes building a BW much easier. You can port between your clay node and the village idol storing the bricks for the BW.

1) Be familiar with your neck of the woods. Know if there are busy rivers, foragers hitting local flora, hunters out hunting bears, or active claims/villages. Settle in a spot that'll draw as little attention as possible when a giant red deer skull pops up on the map.
2) Make sure villagers aren't leaving criminal scents around the map willy nilly. It makes easy to track you down if there are scents leading right to you.
3) Try not to settle too close to large, aggressive factions. This ties back in to point 1. In world 4 the #1 reason I'd have to port over to some village being raided was because they settled right next to a raiding camp. Though in World 5 my group settled next to a raiding camp too, but we knocked it over and killed them all. So don't settle next to one unless you have the muscle to deal with them.
4) Like ZZ said, brick walls block palibashers. You need a ram to break a brick wall. It's an intense amount of resources and work though so whether you go through with it or not is up to you.

Just keep important things alt-vaulted and be prepared to rebuild. There are very few reasons for a raid to translate into ruining the fun

If I have 2 male silkmoths and 1 female in a container will they produce the same amount of eggs as 1 male and 1 female silkmoth?
