Turns out I made a mistake. The light button was hidden because I had moved the equipment screen too high up.

Thanks for all your help. I feel dumb now.

foraging
hunting
fishing
lumberjacking
carpentry
animal husbandry
leatherworking
plant lore
farming
cloth making

Those 10 are fairly essential to some degree but there are others that you should discover else your forever stuck where you are without outside help.

But in your idea what skills should be bought and how many. also is it necessary to buy all skills?

it's a weird question anyways ...

sure you could go play with Hearth Magic and Foraging only for a whole world turn...

Prolly most Players have bought all skills that are after a while with their main char - why should someone reduce his possible variations in playstyle? Also getting the LP together for all skills (332960 LP) is one of the easiest task in HnH ...

If you'd play with more than one char you might reduce the skills to just what you need for your profession - a miner doesn't need Farming for example ...

True didn't think of that before, so how long with a new character would It take me to get 332960 LP if I spawned in large Confer Forrest?

Cone cow = 150 LP/H
332960 / 150 = 2220 h = 92.5 days, if you remember to log every 20 mnt along those 3 months.
You're welcome.

I currently have a strength of only 18, and I have begun to think about mining. What strength should I reach before I try to mine? (I do not have a Mine Hole yet, but it is not too difficult for me to acquire. I hope I don't need 30 or 40 strength, because that would really suck.)

Or you could craft primitive dolls and horrible knots (if possible), along with cone cows, dandelions, emerald dragonflies (if you live near a swamp), barkboats, and some other relatively easy curiosities. You could rack up over 10,000 a day like that. Plus, cone cows should be 450 LP an hour if your "change" slider in your beliefs is at 100%.

If I place anything that I sleep on in front of the door and go to sleep will the raider/theft be able to get into my house or I will it be blocking the entrance?

They can just break the bed and walk through. You'd be "safer" by using your hearthfire which is a tiny bit harder to break than a borough bed. That said, neither will actually keep you safe at all.
