If'n it's moar than 50 tiles deep inside a wall it doesn't really count as outside.

According to an in game friend, the "no HS" has been hacked in the past. For personal safety I prefer using randomized HS's 20+ chars long (Read smash keyboard a couple times with hands).

This is very true. Leaving the HS blank has caused issues. No idea if/when it was fixed, though.

Mashing the keys is hardly random. If you want really random, go create a long chain ala public key encryption. I've no idea what the maximum length of a HS is, though. The random generator in-game is more than likely enough for anyone but the biggest cryptophreak, though.

Just use the binary coding for DOS as your HS. Trust me, no one will memorize that haha. Or, break down windows 7 back to binary and use that.

No. They can see if you're online, and if your HF is outside they can spawn a new character near your HF.

Ah, I see.

Up to 16 (modified) int
Still rather slow to get it, blueberries just aren't doing it for me, seem to always get the wrong stat when I mix foods
I'll try fishing tomorrow, up to 15 exploration so maybe I'll get lucky and find a floatsam.

So I have enders client
Is there a way to make harvestable (blueberries/wild windslow etc.) objects stand out against the background more?

Seeing if someone is online is total yawn. While it's a tool for griefing, it's no more so than in any other MMO where you can just add people to your friends list. This is probably the least of your worries.

Saying someone can spawn a new character near your HF is like saying a rabid dog doesn't bite. It doesn't matter if it bites you once or a thousand times, you're still getting rabies. The same goes for complete strangers spawning at your HF. People that are going to spawn characters at a HF aren't just going to spawn one character. They're going to spawn a LOT, enough that you're going to be stuck at your HF with no way out other than to start destroying hearth fires. They might even bring in a resurrected character that has enough LP stored up to buy all the black skills and proceed to rob you blind. Hope you didn't leave any keys laying around to let them out of the gate! (I'm assuming you have a claim and palisade to protect all your things.)

Good point about the resurrected character, I honestly forgot that. The second issue is it allows someone to locate you if they're able to get enough of a view on the local landscape. Realistically speaking with full tradition it's not overly difficult to get an alt with the ability to destroy his own HF and buy at least thieving.
