By holding down shift and turning the mouse scroll wheel you can put items in or out of your inventory into or out of things like, cupboards, signposts, etc.

If you hold ctrl or shift+ctrl while rolling the mouse wheel, you can put item in/out of your inventory/into a container in order of ascending/descending quality, making seed-sorting easy!

This only applies with the standard client. I'm not adding it to the OP simply because 99% of the time it doesn't matter with enders and the like... If a new player needs to resort to this it'd be far better to just link them to enders

Also, 100th post

It does work on ender's though... Have you tested it out?

There's nothing to test out...
Enders doesn't put you into AFK mode so it makes no difference

Ctrl+scroll wheel works in all clients. Shift+scroll only works in Ender's (just thought I'd put that out there). Also, make sure to tell people that they have to point at the target container. I kept trying and trying to figure this out until I tripped over that little factoid. Also, having more than two containers open at once can be confusing as to which containers will get used. The mentory counts as one of the containers, so it's possible to scroll everything out of your mentory.

Hope I didn't make anyone mad...

Well, the devs made the client code open source for a reason. People were "cheating" by modifying the client anyway, but since it wasn't open, only a handful of people had access to these modded clients. Dig up some of Jorb and Loftar's old posts on this before you consider it "cheating." It might not be in the spirit of the concept, but it's certainly not cheating.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Always be paranoid, always expect an attack, always be ready. Good tip to survive if someone attacks you randomly.
