Dayum. Looks like it got even harder for me to find a mine now. Thank you.

There is no specific icon for a built mine but most of the time people do not terraform or pave before the mine is discovered so you can generally see a small dot on the minimap that isn't consistant to the terrain around it. In the main screen, some tale tell signs are smelters around a cave, or a walled in place with no gate and a crossroad.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Mines usually (only?) appear on mudflats and mountains, so if you see a settlement on one of those terrains in the minimap it's likely it's a mining camp, since there's no reason to live in places like that otherwise.
Once a man has changed the relationship between himself and his environment, he cannot return to the blissful ignorance he left. Motion, of necessity, involves a change in perspective.

While most of them are on mountains and mudflats, there are mines at forest. Unsure about the other terrains though.

Thanks everyone. I was just wondering since I haven't seen a mine yet (claimed or not) despite wandering pretty far and stuff. Guess I've just been unlucky.
