If you're living by yourself you need to become a jack of all trades but master of none. Living in a village is where everyone tends to specialize in one skill and relying on other villagers who have specialized in another skill.

A specialist combat character is impossible if you're living alone, like many have said before. You'll be incapable of producing anything of usable quality and getting LP will be tedious. It is possible to be "Specialized" to some degree though. A marksman would need to get very high Marksmanship and Survival. High Q bones would be your bread and butter. After that, you'd need to get a high Q bow either through trade or by luck of finding high q soil (Worth more than anything you'll kill!) which has high quality string on it. High perception here.

For a melee character, you'd have to find high quality stone or trade for metal weapons. You really don't have much of a choice here. High melee or unarmed fighting would be necessary. High strength and con.

The real difficulty here is that PvP isn't common. You might run into one person a day and it's a coin toss whether or not they'll kill you or just run away. So in the end, all your skill building and scavenging was for nothing! If it's just for animal hunting, you can do this easily with 20 marksmanship and 4 branches.
