Dealing with thieves.

Postby Dinotron » Thu Aug 05, 2010 3:28 am

Last night there was a large amount of leather stolen from my camp.

I have the thief's scent, but there's nothing I can do about it. I don't have any weapons or armor and my combat skills are lacking. Is there any way to deal with this? I don't want to keep working all day only to have my things taken.

I would start work on a palisade as soon as possible. If the problem persists you can ask for the help of rangers who can track the thief down and deliver justice on your behalf.

I've tracked down the perpetrator, and his hearth fire, but it's in owned land.

I really hope I can find someone who can help me.

If it's a scent of theft, you can summon them even if they're offline. Depending on how armored they are, you could punch them to death with minimal combat. You should post a screenshot of where you're at that way any rangers in the area can assist you better.

I ended up calling him out on it, and he gave me 15 leathers in return and swore he'd never come back.

I kept his scent (which was theft), just in case something does go missing again. I can only summon him to his hearth fire though correct? It's inside of a claimed area and I don't have any of the necessary skills required to attack another person.

I'll be happy as long as he doesn't return.

Glad your items were returned without violence. Most of the time it just takes you showing up at their place and that gives them enough of a scare to return the stolen property.

You are a lucky bastard. I built some sections of palisade on this dude's place and he hunted me down and killed me and 2 other people. It was not pretty.

Damn russian.

Where do the scents go when someone steals your stuff? I'm pretty sure I've never seen them.

They are on the ground, looking like steaming footsteps. You can see them only when you have tracking turned on.
