Unarmed Combat or Melee?

I currently have no source of metal, so going melee would limit me to a stone axe. Would it be smarter to just go with unarmed combat?

Also, what unarmed combat skill level, strength, agility, constitution and other attributes should I be aiming for to start hunting wild animals?

Without a source of metal, I am currently at a stand still in advancing technology. The only thing I have going for me now is a large amount of silkworms coming along. (Which I guess I could use for trade).

Melee has more brute power, unarmed is better for fancy stuff. For hunting I'd definitely go with melee. 100 melee is enough to kill any animal, 30 should be enough for foxes. If you can find your way to Constantinople, it shouldn't be a problem to buy a bronze sword for some silk.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will I be able to kill anything with the stone axe before I have a chance to trade for a sword or am I better off waiting to spend the LP when I have the sword?

Stone axe can do the job for starters. The main problem is getting it at quality higher than 10. If you have found any mountains, check them for higher quality stone.

I'll have to venture out to find some. Are the stones in caves higher quality? I found an abandoned one out West from my camp, but I don't think there's any more ore in there.
