Tile Explanation plz?

Im just a little confused on what a "Tile" is in the game. Im trying to use rustroot extract to locate a mine and the wiki was saying that it checks in a 1000 tile radius, and my first attempt turned up nothing.

Im assuming that a "tile" is like a 1x1 building area. For example like laying down one paved road, would that space I built it at be a tile? If anyone can explain it to me if im wrong, i would most greatly appreciate it.

you are correct. a tile is 1x1, just like a single pave. iirc it is also 1 pixel on the minimap.

like sabi said 1 tile = 1x1 a trick to check how mush land you cover fast is to get some stones, put paved ground on the square you Prospect and then use Ctrl+L to get to the next distance always go the same way,there is a picture on the forum on how to easely prospect a whole grid.
I don't support this kind of prospecting because it is first come first have but i'm afraid it's the only way you are going to find a mine these days and if you do consider yourself lucky.
