Gate no key?

Ok so it says on wiki if i build a gate I would obatain a key once I finish it but I didn't why? :?:

You can build a gate by building 2 cornerposts so that there is a 2 tile wide gap between them. Right click on one of the cornerposts to build a gate. The gates work just like Palisade and Brickwall gates, except they don't require keys.
