Increase the quality of the steel plate, most simply. Q10 is base quality, Q40 is x2 base, Q90 is x3 base, Q160 is x4 base, Q250 is x5 base.
Armor class is broken up into two sections: Deflection/Absorption. Deflect is damage from an attack that is outright ignored. Absorption is how much damage the armor takes to its hit points. Anything that spills over from these numbers goes directly to your hit points.

If you're planning on raising the quality, that requires starting with higher quality charcoal and wrought iron. Higher q wrought iron requires high quality charcoal and cast iron. Higher quality cast iron requires a high quality smelter and high quality fuel. A high quality smelter comes from a high quality kiln, high quality clay, and high quality fuel. Higher quality fuel comes from a high quality kiln, high quality wood, and high quality fuel. When it breaks down to it, you just need good clay and wood for good steel =)

TeckXKnight wrote:you just need implausibly high quality clay, dirt, and water with a full-nature high farming skill character for tree planting for wood and crop growing for plant fibers for the herbalist table you make the trees along with countless weeks of waiting for said crops and trees to mature so you can use them to grind herbalist tables to their highest possible quality to repeat the process, and a full-industry high smithing/carpentry skill character to build the herbalist table the trees are grown on and mine the ore to turn into cast to wrought, and then piss away via baby-sitting a 1-tile object for ~50 hours of real life time turning wrought into the steel you want. and then doing that ~50 hour baby sitting job two more times so you get 6 bars of steel that you need for the plate

fixed

Don't forget during all these weeks of "gameplay" someone can come across your settlement, bust down the walls, and cut/burn everything you have.

Haha, wow, you sound disenchanted. Never even tried to make it sound fast or easy, just honest. You need good clay to start with and good wood. How you get that wood and clay is your problem and it's really not designed to be a one man job. If you intend to do it yourself, prepare to suffer =D
In fact, just be prepared to suffer =)

Looking through his posting history, he has been posting angsty shit like this for many months. It doesn't seem like he really posts about anything else.
