i was lucky enough to find both a boy AND girl silkmoth today so i really do not want to screw it up so i am wondering how long silkmoths live for once placed in inventory also any other information you think i shud know that is not on the wiki would be greatly appreciated

they want live long in your inventory..put them in a cupboard so they will mate and have eggs..

If you keep a male and female silkmoth together, even in your inventory, they will be just fine. They will mate and you will get eggs after a while. Your inventory is not a good idea since it may restrict the amount of eggs you will get if you don't have enough free inventory space available when the eggs are laid. Iirc, you can get up to 10 eggs from a mating pair.

After the eggs are laid, both male and female will die (they dissapear).
